Within the small tranquil town of Ayer’s Cliff lies a hidden gem known for its breathtaking views and hospitality. The 5 star Ripplecove hotel offers a one of a kind experience of what the Eastern Townships has to offer.
Who am I?
My name is Ryan Shearer, i’m 20 years old and just moved to Montreal from a small town in the Eastern Townships called Ayer’s Cliff. I am currently studying at Lasalle College in hotel management with hopes of pursuing my passion within the hospitality industry.
Why is the Ripplecove special to me?

When I was younger, I always dreamed about working at the Ripplecove, the five star hotel that was within walking distance of my house. I remember seeing people passing back and forth on my street towards the hotel with smiles on their faces. I always wondered … what was making them feel so special? I later discovered why everyone felt special when they we’re arriving, and departing the hotel when I got a job, my first ever job, at the Ripplecove when I was 14. I used to be shy when i was younger, but working here really got me to come out of my shell. I was taught discipline, and a true sense of hospitality at a young age which caused me to develop a passion for the industry. This hotel made me into the person I am today and I will always be grateful that I had the oppurtunity to be part of the Ripplecove family.

The hotel’s lakefront terrace is embellished with several comfort areas which offers guests a picturesque view of the calm waters and wildlife that reside on the surrounding area, and fire pits to stay cozy while enjoying freshly made s’mores to you’re liking .

The terrace offers a one of a kind experience of observing thousands of geese which use the lake as a resting area throughout their migration journey.
Guests also have access to the Ripplecove’s private boat which delivers a fascinating sightseeing tour of the surrounding lake environment where land animals such as moose, deer, and beavers can be observed at a safe distance.

The lake is also known for state of the art fishing locations which guests can take part in to catch salmon, bass, perch and pike.

During the winter, the frozen lake welcomes adventurous guests to take part in many activities such as the Ripplecove’s custom made skating rink, cross country skiing, skidooing, and snowshoeing (Ripplecove, 2019).
The Arboressence spa

Ripplecove’s spa is named after the latin name for tree (aborēscēns). The name symbolically represents the surrounding environment of the hotel that’s made up of an abundance of pine trees. The Arboressence spa represents a tree’s essence within human culture, and how with growth and resistance to hardship, one can be successful and a value to society. The design of the spa takes the Eastern Townships countryside into consideration, incorporating exposed timber and a rustic atmosphere to its layout. The spa offers many treatments to suit the needs of hotel guests and walk in’s alike. The massage therapy package offers relaxing and therapeutic deep massages from Eastern Townships finest therapists. (Ripplecove, 2019).

The Rejuvenating body care package is also offered which is a deep body cleanse using local organic exfoliants, which are special compounds that are involved in the removal of dead skin cells. The Ripplecove’s coconut sugar scrub and the mango enzymatic gel help hydrate and refine the skin, along with lightening pigmentation and anti-aging. (Ripplecove, 2019).

Le Riverain

“Our gastronomic restaurant, Le Riverain, has consistently been awarded the AAA/CAA 4 diamond award for its innovative regional cuisine. Only steps from the water’s edge, the view and stylish atmosphere of Le Riverain is unique in the region” (Ripplecove, 2019).

Ripplecove’s Riverain restaurant is well known around the Eastern Townships for its fine dining and its 4 diamond standing. With an exquisite gastronomic menu inspired by Quebec and French cuisine, the Riverain delivers local farm fresh delicacies to the table with dishes such as the pickled and burned mackerel (smoke scallop purée, quinoa, clementine, dashi) and the Quebec dear loin (Luxuriate in onion and smoked beet puree, crunchy fennel salad, sweet potato croquette, regional dark beer sauce) (Ripplecove, 2019).
The Riverain’s design layout is just as unique and warming as its menu. Blue and white is predominantly used within the restaurant within the chairs and pillars to express the massawippi lake, they represent the color of the sea and sky along with purity and trust. The restaurant benefits from using these colors because it develops a warming sense of approachability and hospitality for the guests. Dark oak wood makes up the furnishing layout which all comes together with the grand piano at the center of the room.
